im·brue [im-broo]:
to saturate or stain, as with color.

Welcome to the digital portfolio and workshop of Steve Acres. I have been studying the art of graphic design since 2001, but only for the past five years have I been actively involved in the art community. I strive to draw influence and inspiration from extremely diverse sources, as well as use mediums other than the computer to obtain results, therefore my designs are quite dynamic and wholly unique.

I do my best to submerge myself in a culture of art and in doing so my eyes and brain are always being stimulated by new designs and creations. I never get bored of looking at any type of design and I never grow weary of solving my own design problems. My thirst to create and my drive to solve problems are what set me apart from the masses, and I know it is this passion that will ultimately bring me success.

Need some work done? I'd be glad to discuss it with you. Contact me with any questions you have at steve@studioimbrue.com.

[10.13.2008] - Pizza Rustica

I finally finished the new Pizza Rustica website. Head on over to the web design section for a slightly more detailed description, as well as links to other sites I've done in the past. It's been a while since I've updated, so I should have some new stuff up within the next couple of weeks.

[07.07.2008] - PRINTS! (not prince)

Studioimbrue is proud to present limited edition Cactuar posters! There will be a total of 15, which will be 2-color screen printed on French Paper's Pop Tone. They will be 24''×18'' on 65lb cover weight. Here is the original and here is a picture of a test print. The actual prints will look a little better, of course. The cost is $35 plus shipping to wherever. The actual cactuar itself is about 8''×8'' and is placed a few inches from the bottom in the center.

If you would like to request a print, drop me an email! Also I'll be uploading a few new things soon so look out for those.

[05.31.2008] - Site Updated!

Alright, the site is finally finished! I completed it ahead of schedule, so I went ahead and put it live. I will soon be adding photos of my business cards/letterhead/envelope, so look out for that! Also, I will add some more of my writings on here soon, so check back for that as well.

[05.02.2008] - Updates

Well, recently I finished my own personal "brand," so in light of this development I have decided to slightly redesign the site in order to be more congruent with my identity. The current deadline I have set for myself is June 25th. So look forward to seeing a new site, some pictures of my new identity system, and a full redesign of the Harry Potter book series's jackets.

[04.01.2008] - Poetry and Logos

A Sapless Heart

Your proud chest,
a swelling nest of paper wasps,
crumbles at the hint of interest,
into miles of crackled earth and
barren capillary seas.
At the slightest suggestion of amorous affection,
you turn a dry shoulder to conceal emotion.
A sapless heart shovels pints of sand,
laying waste to what was once swarming with
life.

[03.11.2008] - Meteor

A little poem I wrote a few years ago that I stumbled upon today:

Velvety, milky blackness
spilled across the sky,
glittered with stars
ever-so-perfectly.
Half of the sun,
(glowing heavily)
grasps the cliff's edge,
fights to pull itself over.
The sky appears to be crying-
tears-
flaming.
Particles of fire leap from them,
as the tears rocket toward the Earth.
Fierce, ardent, hellish tears,
plummeting behind the cliff's edge,
to join the sun's other half,
behind the millions of cliffs
and tops of sky-piercing mountains.

[03.06.2008] - Apollo Publications

I just received my project which was done for my Studio I class. It involved furthering the brand identity I created for Apollo Publications by creating a letterhead, business card, and number ten envelope seen here.

[03.05.2008] - New Site Added

I just added a new site to the WEB section. It's a very tasteful ode to Marshall McLuhan, so get on over there and check it out. Also, I'm currently in the process of designing a 12-page magazine for the "Apollo Publications" logo found in the LOGO section, so look out for that coming in to the site within the next few weeks.
